Fused Glass Classes
Fused glass is the art of layering and melting glass pieces together in a kiln to create a single, unified design. You can use color, texture, and form to craft everything from bold jewelry to delicate panels. The process allows for endless creativity, as glass can be cut, stacked, and slumped into intricate patterns and shapes.
One enticing aspect of fused glass is that the process has a lot fewer steps than working in stained glass! You can also work at a much smaller scale - allowing for more intricate and detailed designs. Fused glass easily allows a 2D effect with every piece and there is no foiling, no soldering, no patina and no harsh chemicals!
Some of what is covered in our fusing classes include (but is not limited to) understanding coefficiencies of glass, glass cutting/nipping, grinding, how to stack glass, use of the kiln, and its firing schedule. We also discuss the effects of fusing glass, such as tact fuse, partial or contour fuse, full fuse, and slumping.
We look forward to working with you to create uniquely fused pieces!
