Doreen Jordan

Small in stature, Big in Style

A Maine native Doreen grew up in Rumford and is a graduate of Rumford High. She has expanded her education through college courses, workshops, craft classes and traveling - most recently to China. She and husband Roland have raised 2 daughters (artists in their own right) all while working full time and maintaining strong family connections.

Doreen is an accomplished artist in many disciplines: pastels, pen & ink, drawing, scratchboard, ceramics, needlepoint, cross stitch, embroidery, knitting, carving in slate, professional sewing, macramé and more.

Her greatest artistic passion is working with glass. Five years ago she began creating works for her home, family, and friends as well as commissioned work. She is especially drawn to work on large sized stained glass projects such as window & door panels.

The piece she is most proud of is her LIFESIZED, 3 dimensional, stained glass "FARMER JIM", pictured here. You can find a photo gallery of his construction at www.farmerjim.com.

Recently Doreen has been experimenting with Glass Fusing and has invented a new piece of jewelry that can be worn 3 different ways; as a necklace, bracelet or hair elastic.
She has also invented specialized "bean bags" for stained glass projects. These bags hold and stabilize oddly shaped pieces at the appropriate angle to facilitate a strong solder.

Doreen’s artistic abilities combined with a gift for sharing her knowledge and skills with others make her classes a pleasure for those who want to enhance their skills or try something new.
